Welfare
Programmes: For Staff
| |
Medical Care: The college is concerned with
the health and welfare of its teaching and non-teaching stuff.
The St. John’s Ambulance (Prafulla Chandra College Ambulance
Divtn.) offers first-aid to the students, teachers and non-teaching
staff of the college. In case a emergency, a staff member
can take a loan up to Rs. 4000/- immediately from the staff
benevolent fund. |

Material
and Physical Aid: Need based distribution of goods
like umbrellas, hot cases (Tiffin boxes), blankets and other
utilities are distributed to the associates of the employees
co-operative. |

Attending
Seminars, Workshops and Conferences: For personality
and professional development, the staff are encouraged to
attend different seminars, workshops and conferences. A number
of in-house faculty development programmes are held in the
college for which grants are available and sometimes the Alumni
Association donates through advertisements, sponsorships to
organise these programmes. |

Entertainment
Programme: The college arranges games like Cricket
and football matches for the staff. Being an evening college,
dinner is also hosted for the staff from time to time on the
closing day before the Puja holidays/at the end of the year. |

Festival
Advance is granted to the staff before Puja. It is
an interest free loan. Ex-gratia/festival grant is given to
all teaching and non-teaching staff before Puja.
Advance Salary is provided from college fund
when required. Tour advances is given to the non-teaching
staff every three years. The amount is decided by the Governing
Body.

Welfare Programmes: For Students
|
Career
& Academic Counselling are provided for the students.
Career fairs and Career Talks are organized to highlight career
opportunities.Teachers, generally try to help needy students
with books and reading materials in their own ways if humanitarian
circumstances arise.

Scholarships:
There are a number of scholarships for the needy and deserving
students; Poor and meritorious students are provided with
full studentship and half-free studentship. |
|
Health-awareness
programmes: The St. John's Ambulance Division as
well as the N.C.C. hold health-awareness programmes for the
students. For example, Cancer and Aid's awareness programmes
and medical camps have been organised. The students union
organizes Thalassaemia awareness camps, blood donation camps
from time to time.

Educational
tours and excursions: Every year educational tours
and excursions are arranged for students by various departments
as well as the student's union. |
|
Freshers
Welcome and Annual Social programmes and annual sports
are arranged every year. Some
time cultural programmes are being organized by Student's
Union also. |

Welfare Programmes: For Society—
The Students Union, the St. John's Ambulance (Prafulla Chandra College
Ambulance Division), the Prafulla Chandra College Alumni Association,
the N.C.C. are the prominent groups responsible for conducting various
extension activities of the college for the society.

The
students union has organized blood donation drives, collected
and raised funds in the aid of the Tsunami affected victim
and donated to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. They have
also organized programmes for the. underprivileged and handicapped
children. |

The
Alumni Association of Prafulla Chandra College has held entertainmet
programmes and medical camp in Old-Age Home,
and for the college staff and students. They have also organized
re-union programmes of past pupils and teachers, organized
quiz competitions for past and present students. They have
held book exhibitions, cultural functions for the recreation
and relaxation for past and present staff and their families. |

Environmental
Awareness: The college in collaboration with the
Alumni Association has organized environmental awareness programmes
to create understanding and commitment among students. The
students and teachers of this college have participated
at various levels like seminars, participation in workshops,
field trips, organizing essay competitions and book exhibitions
etc. |
|
Cancer
awareness, aids awareness and anti-smoking programmes
have been held in April 2006 in collaboration with Cancer
Care India and posters on aids awareness, cancer awareness
were put up. A number of students participated in the interactive
session that followed. The N.C.C (Air-force) of the Jadavpur
University also participated in this programme. Eminent speakers
like Dr. Rati Vajpayee, (Oncologist) Dr. Bibhuti Saha of the
School of Tropical Medicines delivered illustrated talks to
make it a success. Leaflets on cancer awareness and aids awareness
were distributed amongst the participants. |
